Woke up this morning feelin' like P. Diddy..

I didn't actually and still do not understand what that means - it is one of the most ridiculous things I've ever heard; as if you would morph into P. Diddy overnight or gain any comprehension of his lifestyle. Oh, and he's actually called Diddy now so keep up Ke$ha (I also find the dollar sign in her name unnecessary and slightly too optimistic). And while I'm on the topic of shit songs: thanks for the "Fireflies" import America, what a delight to the ears that was. Anyway, I have basically had nothing to say the past few days, hence the lack of posts, as I didn't do anything this weekend or have anything going on in my mind worth writing about. However, I have a little bit to say about a documentary I just watched a bit of.

So I came in from a run and my mum was watching an episode of Dispatches about kids living in Gaza and I am still quite shocked from it. I find it really disgusting when people jump to conclusions about people living in the Middle East and just presume that they are all terrorists. It shocks me that we still live in a society with people who are so ignorant and are completely uninterested in anything that isn't happening right on their doorstep. However, that was not the point of the documentary. From what I saw of it, it basically followed a few children and their families who had been affected by the war between the Israeli's and the Palestinian's. The amount these children have had to endure is just incredible: having to watch members of their families being beaten and murdered right in front of them. It really makes me feel incredibly pathetic when I complain about such minor things like having a spot. I feel truly appalled that a lot of people just don't seem to care that this kind of stuff is still going on and are more interested in Cheryl Cole's divorce. It's unbelievable the amount of news coverage celebrities get, in comparison to world issues. However, I'm not naive and I do understand that it's a complex situation but I just find it quite frightening that some people have no awareness of these things going on. I'll never forget the time we were discussing Gaza in my Modern Studies class about 2 years ago and a guy in my class said: "Who's Gaza?". Me and my then friend (we're not friends anymore but that's a whole other matter) were completely taken aback, it was just unbelievable. But anyway, it's getting late and I'm tired so that's all for tonight. Hopefully I'll have something less controversial to say tomorrow :)
